Kids Light Up The Arts 

In an effort to promote the visual and performing arts to children, we will offer special 2-hour art classes. This series collaborates with local artists, performers and crafters to educate and encourage kids to create their own works of art, culminating with an Art Show so our students can display all of their hard work.

$15 per child, $95 for the entire series.
Materials will be provided for each workshop.

Prints & Printmaking
Sunday January 29

Using simple materials such as styrofoam trays and pencils, kids  create the most beautiful patterns and designs while learning about positive and negative space and compostion.

 

 

Puppetry & Masks
Sunday February 5
1:00 - 3:00 pm 

Most kids are familiar with hand puppets but this workshop will examine the history and varieties of puppets and masks used in stroytelling theatre.  We will also present some of the basics of puppet building and everyone will create their own!

 

 

Watercolors 
Sunday February 12

Join us for an experiment in water and color.  We'll explore techniques and tricks while creating beautiful portraits and landscapes.

Photography 
Sunday February 19

We'll be playing with angles, compostion, light and shadow along with other aspects of taking engaging photographs. (We suggest bringing your own camera for this class.)

Dance 
Sunday February 26

Discover the world of dance!
We'll sample several different ways to move and kinds of choreography, and get some serious excerise in too!  (Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for this class.)


 

Painting Tiles & Murals

We will expose our students to the challenges and excitement of creating works of art on a larger scale.  Each student will also have the opportunity to design and paint individual tiles. 

 

ART EXHIBIT & RECEPTION

Here is your chance to admire all of the work your children have put into this series of classes and workshops. 
All pieces will be on exhibit in the Lighthouse's museum and light refreshments will be served.  The lighthouse tower will also be open for climbs.

Students are welcome to come out for just one workshop or to join us every week. 
Each class is $15 per student, with a discounted price of $95 for the entire series.  We also offer special rates for Atlantic City residents!
All proceeds benefit this and other Absecon Lighthouse educational programs.
